Terms and conditions

  • It is our priority to make every dog’s experience at The Salty Dog Spa a happy and positive one. However, dogs left with us are done so at the owner’s risk.
  • The grooming team has the right to refuse, cancel or discontinue a groom should it be considered the groom may have a negative effect on your dog’s wellbeing for reasons such as (but not limited to) aggression, poor health, medical conditions or unrealistic owner expectations.
  • The grooming team has the right to refuse any customer without reason.
  • The grooming team has the right to refuse, cancel or discontinue a groom should they feel they are at risk of injury.
  • The Scrub Yard will not be held responsible for any loss of personal belongings during your dog’s visit. However, we will do our best to make sure your dog leaves the salon with everything they came with plus a wagging tail (and a little less fur).
  • We will not groom pregnant or lactating bitches.
  • It is the owner’s responsibility to inform the grooming team of any existing medical conditions prior to the groom.
  • The grooming process includes a thorough health check and can, sometimes, expose underlying skin or health problems for which we cannot be held liable.
  • Dogs found to have fleas will incur an additional charge of £5 to cover treatment of the salon.
  • Dogs can visit The Scrub Yard as soon as they are fully vaccinated as a puppy. Owners wishing to bring unvaccinated adult dogs do so at their own risk.
  • Should the grooming team feel your dog requires immediate veterinary attention, it will be sought for them with the owner agreeing to cover any costs incurred.
  • Occasionally, it may be necessary to use a muzzle during those parts of the grooming process that your dog may object to. It is safer for both dog and groomer. It is the responsibility of the owner to inform the groomer if they do not wish their dog to be muzzled.
  • Coat texture and colour can be altered if clipped before a dog’s adult coat has grown through. In most cases, this means full grooms (involving whole body styling) will not be performed on dogs below six months of age. Your groomer will be happy to discuss exceptions to this rule.
  • Quotes given at the time of booking may differ from the price given following the consultation on the day of your appointment. The groomer will be happy to explain the reasons why and seek owner consent before the groom commences.
  • Payment must be made on collection of your dog.
  • While we understand unforeseen circumstances may arise, should you fail to arrive on time for your appointment, or cancel giving less than 24 hours notice, a charge of £10 will be incurred before we can rebook. Please respect that we operate an appointments system and may not be able to refill your slot at short notice.
  • Unfortunately, we have limited holding space at The Scrub Yard. Any dogs not collected within 30 minutes of the agreed collection time (as stated in the contract) will incur a £5 charge for each 30 minutes the dog remains in holding.
  • We understand that life doesn’t always go to plan, but late drop offs/collections can have a serious impact on the other dogs already inside, or due to arrive at The Scrub Yard on the same day. Your consideration when keeping appointment/collection times is greatly appreciated. We aim to achieve the best possible groom for your dog in a timely manner that suits both groomer and owner.
  • Collection times are given based on a dog that is comfortable with all parts of the grooming process. Should we fail to complete your dog’s groom by the agreed time every effort will be made to give prior notice.
  • Should you arrive to collect your dog while the groom is still in progress, please try not to let them see you – an excited pet can be dangerous to work on. Your understanding is appreciated. Perfection can take time!
  • It is the responsibility of the owner to provide us with up-to-date contact details enabling us to speak to you while your dog is in our care, should the need arise.
  • The Salty Dog reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
  • Any complaints should be discussed, in the first instance, with the Grooming Manager or Head Office.
  • Pets with matted coats need extra attention and may incur an extra charge. Matts will only ever tighten and pull on the skin. Attempting to brush them out will cause your dog unnecessary distress and discomfort, which The Scrub Yard does not endorse. In these cases, matts may need to be shaved out. This carries a risk of nicks and clipper burn. While every care is taken to avoid such issues, prevention is the best defence against matting. This can be achieved with regular grooming appointments and maintaining your dog’s coat in between these times. Our aim is to work WITH you, the owner, to achieve a style both you and your dog are comfortable with and able to maintain. This can require a long-term plan that the groomer will be more than happy to discuss with you.
